Physiological, Biochemical, and Agronomic Trait Responses of Nigella sativa Genotypes to Water Stress

چکیده
Water stress may affect the growth, physiology, morphology, biochemistry, and productivity of Nigella sativa (black cumin), a medicinal aromatic plant. Measuring these parameters under various irrigation regimes could provide useful information for successful genotype selection breeding. Therefore, agronomically significant features were evaluated in ten black cumin genotypes (Afghanistan, Pakistan, Syria, India, Arak, Isfahan, Semirom, Shahreza, Shahrekord, Mashhad) three (40% (I1), 60% (I2), 80% (I3) permissible moisture discharge) during 2017 to 2018 growing seasons. was shown increase levels carotenoids (Cars), proline, total soluble carbohydrates (TSC), malondialdehyde (MDA), hydrogen peroxide (H2O2), catalase (CAT), ascorbate peroxidase (APX) activities but reduced relative water content (RWC) chlorophyll content. The highest increases Cars, TSC, CAT, APX noted Mashhad I3 regime, respectively. At same time, lowest decrease observed chlorophyll, H2O2, Semirom. According susceptibility index, most resistant Shahrekord I2 Semirom I3. These data demonstrate that affected physiological, biochemical, morphological both qualitatively quantitatively, although impact varied depending upon genotype, traits. As such, results presented represent valuable with which inform future breeding programs drought-tolerant cumin. This is particular significance considering global climate change.

Biochemical and Physiological Responses of Alfalfa (Medicago sativa L.) Cultivars to Osmotic Stress
In order to investigate the effects of water stress on total phenolics content, antioxidant power, β-glucosidase activity and stomatal properties of alfalfa, a factorial experiment based on randomized complete block design was carried out in 1-Lit pots containing half strength Hoagland culture medium using two cultivars of alfalfa at four osmotic pressures including 0 (control), -0.5, -1.0 and ...
متن کاملPhysiological and biochemical responses of Quercus brantii seedlings to water deficit stress
Water shortage is one of the most important environmental stresses in Mediterranean regions. Poor seedling quality may account for the failure of oak regeneration. To determine the best seed origin of Quercus brantii, we investigated on seedlings collected from 20 mother trees in the Zagros Mountain forests 700 to 2200 m altitudes above sea level. Seedlings from different altitudes were irrig...
متن کاملPhysiological and morphological responses of rice (Oryza sativa L.) to varying water stress management strategies
Sustainability of rice production under limited water conditions is threatened by increasing irrigation water scarcity. Therefore, physiological and morphological responses of rice to varying water stress management strategies should be determined. The physiological and morphological responses of a semi dwarf rice (Hashemi cultivar) to water stress intensities (mild and severe, i.e., short-dura...
متن کاملphysiological and Biochemical responses of different sesame (sesamum indicum) genotypes under salinity stress
Sesame seeds are a good source for food and health due to their protein and unsaturated fatty acids and secondary metabolites such as lignans. Soil and water salinity is one of the most important factors limiting the growth of this crop. By examining the physiological reactions related to salinity tolerance among different landraces and cultivars, tolerant and sensitive cultivars can be selecte...
متن کاملPhysiological and biochemical responses of Hypericum perforatum to salt stress and salicylic acid spraying
Salinity is one of the main obstacles to the successful production of agricultural products. Hormonal compounds such as salicylic acid (SA) as plant growth regulators can have different physiological and biochemical effects in plants under salt stress. In present research, the effects of different concentrations of sodium chloride (2, 6 and 10 dS/m) and foliar application of SA (0, 0.25 and ...
